Advanced the ignition timing a bit before coming come this evening, engine feels much perkier now :lol: Still got lots of fine tuning to go, it MUST be quicker than Fart when I'm done... :D

Right, quick fill in update!

After stripping the engine, I cleaned and painted the block!

New main bearings...

Fit the crank

And drop the pistons in!

Connect up the con rods with new ARP racing bolts

Oil pump and crank seals

Sump, oil filter housing and water pump

Intermediate shaft, distributor, crank sprocket

And that's the block done :D

Sorry to see this one come to a close, though it's good that the parts are being used elsewhere. :thumbdown: :thumbup:

A few questions though if I may ...

First, why the 'unhappy ending'?

Second, is the shell being put to good use?

Finally, where did you get the roll over jig from?

Well it's essentially being reshelled as Daz's shell was getting very tatty. It was a rally car before I got it remember!

I got the jig off an ebay seller as a kit - I welded it up myself. I'm typing on my phone so can't find a link right now. I'll add it to the roll over thread if I can find it.

Sorry to hear this.
This was another thread that I could read over and over again.
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of knowledge that is out there if you only look for it.
These types of posts are a valuable source of information and evidence of the skill involved in keeping old cars like ours on the road, and some of their owners.
I used to think my old man was kidding when he said that they used bean tins and large jubilee clips to fit new piston rings, then I see something that resembles the same idea in one of the pictures above only a bit more elaborate.
Oh well when one door shuts another door opens.
