Where to start?

Post by Fatlemon » Fri Dec 23, 2011 3:38 pm

Courtesy of the boss letting us go early I manage to see my “new” car in daylight for the first time. Took some pictures (hopefully attached) then decided that she needed a wash.

Immediately broke down the things that need doing into three groups

Stopping. Need to sort out brakes

Going. Need to sort out idle speed (interesting when she is idling at 2000 rpm as an auto with poor brakes)

Body work. Leaking into boot through suspect boot seal and is the sun roof meant to lift by about ¼ inch when you shut the door. There is something amiss here as there are scratch marks on the sun roof.

So I have decided that tomorrow the garage is being sorted to allow me to get her inside so that no more water can get in and I can sort out the leaks and brakes before contemplating the going bit.

It also comes in through the main rubber seal, I've fixed some by removing it, cleaning it up and rotating it around 180 degrees.

Thanks for this one, its probably just saved me a lot of head scratching. The lock seal is as water proof as a sieve.
