1.4 TSI Red Oil Light?!

Post by Fabbit » Mon Sep 24, 2018 2:12 pm

Hi all,

I'll try and keep this short as I have a tendency to ramble lol.
Got a Scirocco 1.4 TSI this weekend and I love it so much, but I've been having an issue today with the critical oil pressure warning light.

This morning on the way to work when I was almost there, it flashed on a couple of times and beeped so I pulled over. As I was pulling up the light went off and hasn't flashed up since. I checked the oil anyway and the oil level is absolutely fine, and there are no weird noises from the pump or anything even when revving up to 3000rpm. I've gotta get home from work later but I'm a bit concerned to drive it reading all the horror stories about engines being damaged beyond repair - anyone else had this?

Gonna check the oil filters when I get out of work too as I know they can cause an issue, but wondered if anyone else had any ideas?

Thanks in advance my friends!

It could be faulty wiring or oil pressure sender. It's unlikely you'll want to fit a gauge so you can monitor whilst driving, I suppose...
