Insurance

Post by Brunty » Fri Jul 11, 2008 11:10 pm

This is quite a popular topic so I'm making a sticky!

I'll start it with the two companies that have given me the best prices over the last few years.

Please add to this list and say why you like the insurer.

Elephant - Good prices for performance cars, not bad if you have points too.

Swiftcover - Good prices and all internet based, so easy to change the policy to another vehicle

Tesco - good. Not too expensive, will accept modifieds.

Quinn - haven't found anyone as cheap. apparently arses when paying out.

Performance direct - good with most vehicles. obviously do modded vehicles

But, i must say - AVOID ENDSLEIGH.

absolute rejects. I can't list the amount of problems since if i started, my fingers would wear down to stubbs.

Ive had great service from RH specialist:
good price, euro breakdown, agreed value, salvage buy-back & when i had an altercation with my vw camper in a carpark (scratched someones bumper while parking).....they paid out for the other driver without quibble.

Before that i was with Footman James:
Cheap, all done by phone, lots of extra's & when i was with them i ran what was literally a road legal rally car......covered without fuss for an extra 20% on the premium
Peugeot the drive of your life??....YEH RIGHT!....Get a scirocco...Loser!

The only two that would give me a quote worth considering were:

HIC - good for modded cars and young drivers (owned by Adrian Flux)

Brentacre - Family run business again good for modded cars - they know what theyre talking about too!

My insurance is through HIC, due to the car being modded, but more importantly for an extra £12 they'll insure my other half on it as a named driver as soon as she passes her test :)

Right, out of favour with Swift cover. They won't insure Daz as he's over 25 years old! Even though they used to insure him and to all intents and purposes he is the same as a 1992 Scirocco. Not happy.

Im doing some work with... and so far I have found them VERY good at paying out... well, if you live in the central belt of scotland, then it will be me that pays out!!!!

Try them... I havent tried to get a quote yet (will be come renewal time!) so if anyone out there gets a quote from them let me know - would be interested :)

Im with Tesco on my 07 reg ST... and just now I think your getting a few months free cover or £40 off your shopping in Tesco which when you think about it is not bad! Cheap premiums and cheap food (BONUS!)

I am insured with Lancaster Insurance. I have to say it was by far the best quote I have had. The Rocco is my second car as I use my other for everyday motoring needs. Because of this I only had a classic limited mileage policy taken out on the car which probably saved me quite a few quid.
