Well, I have finally done it. On Sunday I shall join the ranks of the posers. I expect most members will have seen the ebay adverts last summer for a highly modded GTII used as a display for an ICE company in Telford and sprayed Tornado with a gold flake. With Brunty egging me on I made an offer when it reappeared on ebay. Seller is still in 6th form with insurance premium £2000+
Spec below, will post pics when I get it home :D
I insured it through Adrian Flux and declared EVERYTHING. £315 fully comp with 5000 miles limit - quite chuffed.

1990 GTII

Engine:- 2.0 16v 9A From Corrado
1.8 KR Inlet Cam
Kawasaki ZZR 1100 Carbs Conversion, Custom Manifold,

4 Branch SuperSprint Manifold,
2.5" Bore Jetex Full Exhaust System.
Radtec Aluminium Custom Built Radiator
172 BHP 143 lb ft Torque

Suspension: Koni Adjustable Shocks
Eibach Springs
Eibach Front & Rear Anti Roll Bars
All Powerflex Poly Bushes

Brakes:- Front: 4 Pot AP Racing Callipers,
304mm Alcon Grooved Discs,
Braided Hoses throughout.
Rears: Standard Drums
Golf Mk2 16v Servo and Master Cylinder & All new Brakes Pipes

Wheels:- 16" Speedline Tourini's in Gold
195/45/16 Toyo T1R Tyres

Exterior:- De- Spoilered at rear, Roof rails removed and filled,
Clear Indicators, Smoked rear lights, Re-Sprayed Tornado Red with Gold Flake.
Purple neons operated by key fob

Interior:- Cobra Imola GT Seats
MOMO Steering wheel &
Gear Knob, Rear Seat Removed.
I.C.E:- Alpine CD / Radio
JBL 6" Compononet kit in front.

No prizes for guessing why I am calling it Flash

Anyone want to buy some purple neons?

Nice! Very good price on insurance too - would have cost me the same as the 6th form kid no doubt!

Stick some pics up of the neons

The condition of this car is amazing, inside and out. I'll post pics from Brunty's farm on Wed or Thu. Drove Flash home from Deal - 327 miles - yesterday. Missing a bit so thought there was a fuelling problem. Took it out today and after driving over a cattle grid the engine died. The fuel pump was ticking so I reasoned it was out of fuel. Turned out that the high tension lead had a broken connection and had parted company with the coil. Stole the lead from the Mini and tried it out again. I thought it was quick yesterday ....... bloody hell - as my daughter said "Flash Aaaa Aaaa" You might get that if you are old enough.
Have to say that it is seriously quick - faster than my G60 - and is returning middle to high 30's mpg. Was thinking of converting to K jet but if it aint broke..... Finding it difficult to stop the manic grin :D I can turn on the purple neons from the front window - good fun to watch peoples reactions as they walk past.

As soon as Brunty saw Flash he pointed out that there was no ECU and therefore no advance/retard. Ebay to the rescue, ECU and loom fitted and it ran like crap. No power at all low down and up to about 4000 and then a kick in the back. I took it to a rolling road and got some bad news. The Kawasaki carbs just were not up to the job and with advance it was running so lean that there was a danger of melting pistons. Drove back very carefully and back onto ebay. Now running a pair of DCOE 40's. I thought it was quick before........... :D
I am booked in to a Weber specialist rolling road in mid may. I'll post the results.

NICE 8-) engine bay reminds me mine one a while ago, when i use to run twin 40's :)
two things: those filters is dangerous, we have killed customers bmw with them, do few miles, then pull one off and ull see that loads of dust inside of trumpets.
and where is that lovely place where was photo shooting done? :)
